Oh no. No. Please no. Why?

The Green Dragon is seducing your children. It is deadly.

Deadly to human prosperity. Deadly to human life. Deadly to human freedom.

And deadly ... [pregnant pause] ... to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sometimes we must suffer in order to understand the opposition. :)

It is my deepest hope that I will live to see the day when this superstitious nonsense is relegated to the dustbin of history where it belongs.

I won't be holding my breath.

"...And scaring little children to achieve your political ends is reprehensible."

AMEN.

Every single word of that trailer is an exercise in monumental projection. These fundamentalist whack jobs are the embodiment of every evil they attempt to pin on this so called "Green Dragon".

Heh. Do you sometimes get the feeling that these pernicious little slugs have taken ISL* classes?

but also exposes how environmental organizations use sophisticated media campaigns and even seek increased global governance to promote their agenda among policy makers, religious leaders, and youth.

This is just an example of people (organizations) being afraid of their own dirty tricks being used against them. I would say the quoted text is a lot more accurate when you replace the term "environmental organizations" with "christian fundamentalists".

Another quote which makes a lot more sense when applied to the religious right:

"There isn't an aspect of life that it doesn't seek to force into its own mold."

This, ladies and gentlemen, is called isolated projection. No way to reach or affect the transmitter. Their critical thinking doesn't work and their reception channels are bugged to only receive validation information.

I don't recall anything in the bible telling Christians that it is wise to destroy the planet without mercy or care.

Also how does David Barton get so many gigs?

Just today the Gallup folk released a survey on Americans' concerns on various environmental concerns, and while AGW was at the bottom of the list it still scored over 50% in the "worried about..." category:

The far right is really out of the mainstream here (as is usual).

You would think that people like them who believe that God alone created the Earth that they'd feel that it would be responsible to protect the earth since it is after all God's creation. Oh that's right, people like Barton, Perkins, and others are just shrills and don't really give a shit about religion except as a means of controlling people.

Projection and the victim mentality. Hallmarks of today's right wing.

It's like I opened the door and invited everyone from LGF to a cocktail party so they could meet all my clients. The only glimmer of satisfaction I get is now other people know what I've had to associate with for years - the stuff I've had to keep under my hat and only vent to Mr. Heat about.

Welcome to Heartland America. This is what they be.

But it's OK to tell them about a "merciful, loving God" who condemns 99% of humanity to an everlasting, eternal hell full of torture and fire, to achieve their religious agenda.

Jeebus nearly called me home by causing me to choke on my soda when I heard that one.

This is another reason I love Judaism :) Environmental, animal rights and humanitarian issues are a major part. We are commanded to care for the planet and everything on it. It's really an extension of the major tenet of Judaism, "tikkun olam" which means "repairing the world" - to not misuse or abuse and treat all of creation with respect. In fact, we have very specific law which governs how we treat the planet and all living creatures.

I'm not a big fan of quoting Bible verse, but I do like this one (not exactly Bible verse - it's from the commentary or what is called "Midrash".)

“When God created the first human beings, God led them around the Garden of Eden and said: “Look at my works! See how beautiful they are—how excellent! For your sake I created them all. See to it that you do not spoil and destroy My world; for if you do, there will be no one else to repair it.” (Midrash Kohelet Rabbah, 1 on Ecclesiastes 7:13)
